SEX pt.3 - anti-queerness, imperialism & the eugenic family agenda

The Family Proclamation is part of the ongoing eugenic Mormon ideology.

In the Book of Mormon, the Lamanites are cursed with “a skin of Blackness” to make them “not enticing” to the “white & delightsome” Nephites who are warned that if their “seed mixeth” with the Lamanites their babies will have the Lamanite curse. Joseph Smith & Brigham Young told members to intermarry with Indigenous women (Lamanites) to assimilate them & whiten their cursed dark skin. Then for decades church leaders preached against intermarriage with Black/African peoples–the so-called seed of Cain.

They also got on the eugenic, anti-immigrant, white-nationalist bandwagon with their history of anti-birth control, anti-abortion, anti-feminism, & anti-queer ideologies and rhetoric. This began in the late 1800’s as they fought against the US for their right to practice polygamy & continued into the mid 1900’s as they fought, along with the US, against the “threat to the American way of life” – communists and homosexuals.

From the 1990’s through to today, this church has worked against the expansion of the definition of marriage – a definition that was established by the Supreme Court in their efforts to end Mormon polygamy – beginning in Hawaii. The Family Proclamation was created & used as evidence in their attempt to be able to fight against homosexual families. They then began organizing their time & $ in Alaska & California, & went on to expand globally working with Russian oligarchs connected to Putin’s Kremlin in the World Congress of Families, a known Hate Group, to create laws around the world which make life more dangerous for women & LGBTQ ppl.

This is why organizing is so important. The far-right is organized. US imperialism $ Mormon imperialism work hand in hand to create a world void of People Power in the husk of a planet ravaged by extractive capitalism. And the “natural family” is essential to these systems. We must be organized to build a world in the decay of this one.

• At an 1887 Gen Con, Apostle George Q. Cannon said that the only way to stop homosexuality’s "dreadful practices" is "by the destruction of those who practice them.
• In 1993 Apostle Boyd K. Packer said the three main dangers this church faces are the “gay-lesbian movement, the feminist movement, & the ever-present challenge from the so-called scholars or intellectuals.”
• In 1990, 3 homosexual couples in Hawaii applied for & were refused marriage licenses. They filed a lawsuit & the Hawaii Supreme Court ruled in the couples’ favor while also stating that a “compelling public interest” against homdexual marriage could overturn the decision. 
• In 1995, this church petitioned to be “codefendants” with Hawaii to “protect freedom of religion to solemnize marriages between a man and a woman.” The court rejected the petition as they’d failed to show their stake in the case. (This church has no scripture against homosexual marriage) This church appealed.
• Later that year, this church released its “Proclamation on the Family” in which they proclaim “that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets,” and calls “upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.”
• In Mar. 1997 – Pres. Hinckley formally told LA Times “We’re engaged right now in the same-sex marriage problem in legislation in Hawaii.”
• In Apr 1997, this church, in collaboration with the Roman Catholic church, filed an amicus brief, citing the Family Proclamation as evidence, but did not show any valid reasons why expanding marriage would have adverse effects on society.
• In 1997, Dallin H. Oaks spoke at the first gathering of the World Family Congress. “It is appropriate for us to participate in the World Congress of Families to reinforce what that congress is seeking to accomplish.”
• In 2014 & ‘15 the Southern Poverty Law Center and Human Rights Council named the World Congress of Families a Hate Group.
• World Congress of Families (WCF) is an int’l political org made up mostly of US based Christian orgs. It is also sponsored by Russian oligarchs & Orthodox Church.
•  The WCF works with the UN & local governments & orgs globally to develop anti-queer and patriarchal policies. 
• WCF preaches of a “demographic winter,” (aka Race Suicide) the idea that Euro ppls are in decline bc of homosexuality, abortion, feminism.
• In African countries, the WCF veils its agenda in anti-colonial rhetoric, calling reproductive & LGBTQ rights Western colonialism out to limit African reproductivity.
• In 1998, this church has donated $500,000 to a campaign working to amend the Alaska constitution to homosexual marriages.
• In 1999, this church became involved in Prop 8 in CA asking members to donate & organize against homosexual marriage.
• In 1999, BYU & the Relief Society were sponsors of that year's World Congress of Families conf. in Geneva. 
• At that conference, Sharon Slater, a Mormon, experienced a political awakening &  co-founded Family Watch International. 
• FWI is also a hate group which teaches that LBGTQ ppl are prone to disease, “significantly more promiscuous,” and “more likely to engage in pedophilia.” FWI works supports the “Kill the Gays” law in Uganda and a Ghanian law that “would make being an ally or being LGBTQ punishable” by 5-10 yrs in prison. ​
• In 2013, Putin signed into Russian law "for the Purpose of Protecting Children from Information Advocating for a Denial of Traditional Family Values," aka the Gay Propaganda Law meant to protect children from being exposed to homosexuality since it contradicts family values. 
• In 2014, the WCF con was to be held in Moscow with sponsorship from oligarchs tied to Putin. But when Russia annexed Ukraine the conference was canceled due to sanctions from the US.
• In 2015, the WCF con was held, for the 1st time, in the US, in Salt Lake City (sponsored by this church.)
• Apostle M. Russell Ballard was the opening speaker declared this church’s solidarity with this hate group stating, “In today’s world, where marriage and children are increasingly marginalized, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not stand alone in identifying the traditional family as one of its most important doctrinal elements.”
